A short resonator under the cab will cut the loudness nearly in half compared to open pipes. Larger diameter pipes get rid of the harshness too. I believe the pipe tip has an effect on noise level too, as in a straight cut end is quieter than the mitered/slash cut

I grew up with loud cars and boats. I had muscle cars with nice cams in them with turbo mufflers to take the bark out of them and would still get noise tickets back in the day 35 years ago.

Now days in the snooty town I live in it seems like every jack wagon with a Harley can run with straight pipes along with Rice burner cars and bikes.

Now we have the guys running around with straight pipes on their Fords and Dodge trucks.

you get older and you will appreciate the Sound of Silence.

I have a 22" resonator. Claims to drop 7 decibels from strictly straight pipes..apparently they are still loud. 5" from turbo to resonator, then 7"
Sounds cool Monday morning. By Friday nite ears hurt and I love the quiet at the house

    D.Tibbitt Thanks this.

I never understood the jake in a parking lot, low gear, fan off, headlights off and just above idle is my etiquette. I get cussed a lot for being in the way

I can sleep with a reefer beside me cycling or on high. APU is the same. But them trucks that start and run the fan each time all night do get to me till I get really out
