Loves in Baker city Oregon now open for business

There were trucks in the fuel islands when I came by last Thursday. Still working on the convenience store.

Yesterday, the Truck Corral in Baker was dropped from the NASTC fuel program. Hope they don’t throw in the towel.

Out west there do some of those small stops still just have one pump where you gotta throw the hose under the truck to fill the opposite tank? Oh what fun that was in the bitterly cold winters! Hey! I just remembered another small reason why I don't miss trucking! (Sure as h*ll miss the paycheck though!)

 

Ahh I love the old throw the hose under the truck days!

 

Now it just run over the hose with truck

 

Even better: I pull in to fuel this afternoon, and authorize the pump. Start fueling the driver side, walk around to the slave……and no hose. Just the stub of the break-away……

The clerk at the fuel desk said someone took off with BOTH hoses still in the tank, and they only had one spare…..

As far as I know there's still a good independent place in Baker City to hang out at. Loves locations are only okay when they're brand new before everybody figures out it's there and mobs the place. That's what happened to the one in Elkhart when I live. Used to be a pretty chill spot back when it opened in 2019 where you could pull in there in a 1am and get a spot no problem.
