ok, twice in the last week, i had low air warning come on while at hwy speed. no other warnings or lights on. dropped near 50psi and within 10 to 15 minutes came back up. air tanks usually been holding 120psi, now they stay around 100 to 110 psi. sometimes air will drop to about 80 psi at hwy speed but eventually builds back up. every day, i check and cannot find audible air leak. 1st time had 12,035lbs in trlr, 2nd was 32,000. any ideas? thanks
low air warning

I don't know what the mechanical issue is, I'm a driver not a mechanic. But I do know you shouldn't be driving that truck until problem is fixed.Balakov100, firemedic2816, Friday and 4 others Thank this.

My first suspect would be a sticking governor or air dryer purge port. Either way I agree with the above poster. You need to get that fixed asap.
wis bang, pigeon river trucking, Bean Jr. and 5 others Thank this. -
OOS until a shop looks at it. Today. This morning. Get to it. Quickly.
It's really hard to describe but find the compressor and then carefully see if the supply line from the compressor on back to the primary next to the engine is still hot meaning it's feeding air and working. IF it is not working well and fixing to quit leaving you locked with spring brakes somewhere far from a shop as happened to me once (*Literally over dinner in Doswell Petro over dinner it quietly failed while idling for a hour)
Your tractor is talking to you with them gauges losing air like that. Get yourself to a shop today.Grubby, Ke6gwf, Dave_in_AZ and 2 others Thank this. -
If you can stop on level ground, chock wheels, release all brakes, turn off engine, and go slowly all around the rig and still not hear any air leaking then I'd be surprised.
Could have a cracked hose at the trailer or between truck and trailer somewhere that leaks as it bounces.
Or might have had a valve somewhere that was damaged due to water accumulation and freezing.
Regardless, this needs to be corrected ASAP. -

Air it up, truck off but key on and listen around the engine fan for leaks. If that's ok, release the park brakes on the entire unit. Make a full service brake application and hold it for a couple minutes. Watch your tank gauges. After the initial pressure drop, monitor the gauges. They should stay steady. This is checking for air leakage on the service side of the air system.Ooops, jethro712 and SingingWolf Thank this.

Ok fine then sit till tomorrow. You have your laptop to keep you company. Its better sitting there then a weigh station because you got put OOS for failing the airbrake check test.jethro712 and SingingWolf Thank this.
