It’s not just “hiding” profits. Megas own lots of real estate, have large terminals, a bunch of non-driving employees, service shops and mechanics. A lot of things that don’t necessarily generate revenue directly but it all has to be paid for by the trucks.

When I went through Knight orientation 5 years ago, they told me they were making $30k in profit per truck per year.
If each driver did 120,000 miles a year, that would be close to 25 cents profit per mile.
I’m pretty sure the average mileage per driver was less than 120k/year so the profit per mile is probably a little higher. -
They forgot to add a Zero to that 30

Swift .35c a mile probably. NFI guys are prob making a decent wage. A lot of their drivers are older. Lots of guys in their late 40s 50s and 60s.
