Will say this ...they are very forgiving engines , when my jerk boss pised me off I'd try to blow it up ! ...even ran it backwards a few times lol..couldn't blow it up lol.

Yeah I've heard these engines are bullet proof!! So in your opinion you'd say run it on the road? I'm looking at some loads 800-1200 miles one way.
-
Oh and I forgot to ask. Roughly how much would you say this rollback flatbed weighs empty? It's the one pictured in my profile pic.
-
Boy I don't know it's an old engine and I never left the county with mine ...I'd get an oil sample .
Airman89 Thanks this. -
Yeah I'll have to send one off and see what's really going on. I can't help but to feel like something is off. I can't see dropping speed so fast with all the momentum I have going and holding out wot on such small hills.

Maybe the algae is still working its way out or the injectors are weak are my two thoughts. I've checked the exhaust manifold temps and a few of them run at hottest 175ish. The others are 210-230
-
Oh and mine didn't have a turbo .
-
that's what I can't understand, this thing is turbo'd too. I don't even really hear the turbo until 2000 rpms, maybe 2100. I can hear it good and it sounds like it's working great at high rpms. I just can't get over that between the 700rpm idle to around 1700/1900 rpms there is almost no power whatsoever.

I have a mechanical fuel shut off, how can I tell that this is in the "full run" position under the hood?

You have a lot of posts around on this truck only said so people who have not seen them understand.
Your exhaust temp. is never over about 275 F and I gave you one example I tested for you at about 500. Has the AFC and timing ever been checked? Today I checked another when stopped after running under moderate load. 5 ports were low 5's and high 4's, one was 375 explaining haze from blowby tube.
I think you are expecting something from this truck it was not designed for. When it was made the speed limit was 55. A single axle DT compressed gas truck full of cylinders with a 68 MPH max speed was always passed by everything else going up hill.Airman89 Thanks this.
