Hi everyone, I'm looking for a low priced trailer around the El Paso, TX area. I'm presently in the military and missed the feeling of driving a truck, so I bought a low priced Ford L9000 with a Series 60 and a 9 speed. The only issue, it has spring suspension and I doubt I would be able to safely bob tail back to Florida. It is a bumpy ride and naturally with any truck, with nothing back there its very easy to lock the brakes. This is a single axle day cab.
I'm looking for anything 28-53', I've checked ebay and a few other places. If someone could recommend an outlet or something, that would be appreciated. I'm not a motor carrier, it's for non commercial use and has regular passenger plates on it.

Save your money and use it to just have an air ride tandem cut off installed.

Thanks. I've looked on truck paper before. I still want a trailer to hook up to. Air ride would help quite a bit, including before traction on take off.

Could make a nice horse hauling setup with the single axle and the fact you're from Florida. But people who own horses want a nice trailer for their babies to ride in, so maybe if you save you could get one eventually.
Also know that if you get a trailer, you will need to insure the rig as a combo. Which will be expensive. With just the truck you can insure it and plate it as a recreational vehicle to get you back to FL w/o a trailer and you fuel mileage will be MUCH better. -
Let some air out of the tires that will soften up the ride problem.

Should be some cheap orange ones up by DFW.
Mommas_money_maker and SHC Thank this. -
i'm actually thinking of going shopping. LOL. -
I don't know any place around you to buy a trailer cheap. I'd agree with MNDriver about truckpaper.com.
If you're military and have USAA for insurance, you can insure both truck and trailer with them. I have a 1986 Ford C8000 and Great Dane 28' e-van that I put on my insurance with them. Cost is around $400 a year for both. To put it on our commercial insurance was a ton of more money. I just can't haul freight with it.
My C8000 (cabover) has spring suspension and a super short wheelbase. It's pretty bouncy bobtailin' but a hoot to drive. If you're worried about it not being safe to drive bobtail, you're going to fast in it. If you're moving back to FL, you might get hassled for driving a combo vehicle with no CDL. -
Does usaa has commercial insurance???
