My opinion from having owned a couple and worked on many
Around 10 years old you are generally looking at a paint job if you want it to last another 10 years think 10k dollars
At 20 you’re looking at another paint job and certainly some welding and rust repair depending on how it’s been maintained
At 30 look very carefully…there’s going to be plenty of stress cracks and rust problems…..probably going to take between 20-40k to refurbish to roughly new condition
Older than 30 farm uses only and don’t get near dot
For local stuff you need 100 percent control of that trailer….you can’t share it because you make money and keep customers by being there asap.
Don’t waste your time with anything other than a hydraulic neck and wet kit on the truck if you’re planning to do a lot of local off highway work
The ramps on the back can be handy but add weight and pull hard when you’re empty because they catch wind
Put the floor boards on so there is an inch or so space between them and the long steel frame rails….you can power wash the bottom frame rails without getting under the trailer this way
