There is a home depot hiring back home, delivering supplies to construction site customers.

Pay is $2000 salary, and the ad claims its just "25 hours per week."

Not bad salary I guess, if you really only work 25 hours a week. On top of that its 1099 so you have to take out your own taxes.

Now with the Lowes position, what do they classify full-time as. 32 hours or an actual 40?

$13.50 for a full 40 ain't bad if you live in a rural area, in my opinion.

Something sounds fishy with that. You're pay would be $80/hr for only 25 hours/week. Even at 40 hours/week, you're looking at $50/hour. The only way I could see that happening is if they were wanting you to use your own truck/trailer.

You'll be home every night , may have to work some weekends, but if you're just starting out..go for it..easy way to get flat-bedding experience and be home...do it for awhile and move on if you want. But I've heard that Lowe's has great employee bennies and retirement....

That "help out in the store," would be a total deal breaker as far as I'm concerned. Retail. You love it or you hate it. When I worked it, guess which outlook I had. . .:biggrin_25512:

That would be more like 18 something an hour. That two grand had to be for a month's salary, not a week.

    $2000 a week on a 1099.
Take out regular taxes (25%?) -500
Take out 15% self employment tax -300
Take out State Taxes (8%?) 160

And you need the discipline to put that tax money away and do your taxes every 4 months.

That $2000 is down to $1040 and I bet that's without any benefits at all. Not a bad gig for 25 hrs a week. But the $2000 is a loaded number.

Neither Florida nor Texas has a state tax...but even $1040/week at 25 hours is a little les than $42/hr. I guarantee you that a Lowe's district or regional manager doesn't get paid that much...much less a contracted delivery driver. $2000/mo is more realistic...albeit a bit low.

    Big Don Thanks this.

I agree.(about being low) The Home Depot near me uses http://www.estes-express.com/ to do their deliveries. I was talking to one of their drivers last week. He was delivering deck materials to a deck I was building. I think he said he makes around $20 an hr. Uses a flatbed with one of those forklifts on the back. $20x25hrs=500x4=$2000 ....so you may be right.... But that driver said he gets 40hr a week....
I was just going off the posters numbers and statement.

I work for Lowes delivery in Illinois. Its not a bad gig. They took me right out of school. I'm local and home every night. You do have to work some weekends. If you need time off, you can get it. 39 hours a week guarantee. The thing I don't like is, if there are no or a few deliverys to do, and you want your hours, you need to work in the store to get you hours in. We are pretty busy, so making the hours isn't to hard. Some days you might work 6 hours, some days you might work 12. I figure I'll stay for a year and get my time in, and look for a better job then.
