OS&D = Over, Short or Damaged.

If you go LTL, your company will have a section in the warehouse to store these "lost orphans" to be sorted out by OS&D staff.

But really, like i said, i think the only acronyms you need to be concerned about are the ones that begin with F, S or in some cases M.

Jobs that cause any of the above to be spoken MORE than 3 times a day are usually not that good. And jobs that DON'T cause you to say any of the above words at all OR LESS than 3 times a day are usually good jobs.

It is a credit reporting agency that has information about criminal records and past employers. It hasn't been called "DAC" for several years, but most drivers still refer to DAC reports. After DAC it was called USIS and now the company is called HireRight. Not all companies use it. If you want to see what is on yours, you can go to their website (hireright.com) and request it.

Thanks Bob. I'll look into getting a copy of it. Probably take me longer than normal to get it, due to being deployed currently.

Again, i must re-iterate that the only acronyms one must be concerned about in trucking are the ones that being with the letters: F,S, or M (if you refer to the customer as an acronym beginning with the letter M)

If any of those acronyms are uttered by you MORE than three times per work day, then most likely the job is not good, unless the job pays minimum $2500 per week gross.

A very important one! Saved me many times back when I did LTL. Some shippers will not allow you to sign STC. We had a customer years ago, I think it was the old TCI Cable (now Xfinity). Thay used to wrap their pallets in black security shrinkwrap, than insist we sign for piece counts. We argued back and forth with them that if we can't see it, we don't sign for it. They insisted. Our company finally told them, and authorized us, to tell them, "Okay, you want us to sign for piece counts, the shrink wrap comes off."
    "Uhh, what???"
"Shrink wrap comes off so we can count the pieces."
Who woulda thought: 99% of their pallets were off on the piece count. When we showed them, they either corrected the bill, or added the missing pieces.

Currently an Army infantryman, and an NCO to boot. Those particular letters make up 85% of my spoken vocabulary...

Additional acronyms usually used to describe customers, although could also frequently be used to describe surrounding traffic:
    DS
    DH
    SMF
    SH
    FF
    FH
Seriously though, if any of the terms are used by you more than say 3 times a day it's really not good for your mental health. i suggest looking into truckload. Or bulk grocery delivery, which is different from foodservice.
