1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

I agree with most of that. I worked for 3 LTL companies, Linehaul and P and D. If you have good management either can be good. If they are
disorganized and don't care about safety it can be a miserable experiance.
Before you hire on somewhere, try to ask some of the drivers how well
organized it is at the place you want to work. Will they send you into
the city with a 53ft trailer with 30 stops on it to places a 53 should'nt
go? If you have good management you have a good chance of not being
    miserable.

OTR paid more? you sure? LTL linehaul makes 15-20cpm more than truckload OTR companies. A few guys at my barn make over 110k and home every night/day.

LTL pays the best. I made .64/ mile and $21/hr on the dock. I made around $1400-$1800 every week.

Downside, you don't have a life for all the hours you work. I worked 7pm- 7am with an hour commute on each end. Weekends off, all you want to do is sleep. I worked for Central Transport and the supervisors were total idiots with I'm a god like attitude. Great job other than that. Fifty crazy truck drivers on forklifts on a fast paced cross dock was fun.

P&D is the job you want.
