Hi rank, yeah, there's better ways to seal those beads nowadays.BTW, when I had the union job, bending a rim like that was considered a chargeable.

If I'm in the middle of nowhere and lose a bead a can of starting fluid and a block is a lifesaver.

On a lot of equipment, you lose a bead, that's pretty much the only way to do it if it's a simple matter of reseating the bead... you're not going through all the trouble of breaking that down just to reseat it.
But now I have to do tires "by the book". But we have a tire shop six out of seven days in a week, so I only really have to worry about it one day a week, if it even comes up. -

Would've been a chargeable for me too that's why I fixed it. The old man would have made me pay."semi" retired Thanks this. -
The reason a tire shop won't let you leave with only one tire in a dual position is from liability. Just because you the driver say you are going home empty or to another shop empty. Does not mean you will. You may just go get that load and then intend to go get other tire on.
Lawsuit. Driver leaves shop, gets a load, other tire fails and the load shifts onto a 4 wheeler. Tire shop sued. I read this in a Goodyear shop last year sometime. It was in one of their shop magazines. -

You can do an outer by rolling the inner onto a block to elevate the wheels. You're kinda #### out on the steers and inners without a jack, though.

I've seen guys "chain up" an axle, and limp to a tire shop, although, I'd surely wait for the cover of darkness for that deal.
