Just remember, none of the "headache racks" have a impact ratting on tractor. They are only fancy chain holders. If one realies on them for safety, your Fudged already. They are normally held on by ubolts.

well, I know absolutely nothing about flat beds or headache racks, but i'll say this, I'm betting it would have slowed it down a bitjamespmack Thanks this.

This one is certified to 57,500 kg. I'm not sure exactly what the testing criteria is for it to meet that spec though.

Garbage load securement will put your life at risk every time. Nuts.
jamespmack and Big Road Skateboard Thank this. -
I won’t get into the load securement, but I must say that people pulling out and stopping for no reason needs as much attention and condemning as improper load securement.

Especially those idiots who stop before entering a free flow merge lane.jamespmack and mjd4277 Thank this.

It’s all about securement. I knew a driver that was hauling a 45k coil, he admitted that he took the off ramp of I-10 and Etiwanda(Funtucky, Ca.) a little to fast, he laid the truck on its side. However the coil never flinched, it stay on the trailer with all securements. It’s all about securement.

Headache racks only serve to give lazy people a false sense of security when they shortcut their securement. My old boss used to say they’re only for looks and just one more thing to pick up off of you if the load comes forward.

End of the day it comes down to load securement. Regardless of what if happening a truck should be prepared to be able to pile on the brakes and have the load not move in an emergency. Yes a headache rack is important but it’s not part of load securement, it part of secondary measures to protect you if something fails. It’s like wearing a hard hat on a site, that’s not reason to work unsafe or stand under things that can drop onto your head just because you’re “Protected”. PPE is the bottom of the safety triangle and it’s there as a last resort.

The only difference a headache rack would have made would have been it hitting the cab first. Still though...May have been enough?
This looks much heavier duty than what we normally see. Rear facing brackets that actually add some support. Looks like the frame is steel. NiceAModelCat and jamespmack Thank this.
