Do you pay upfront and then submit a receipt? Or do you ask them to issue you a com check? One charged $10 for issuing a comcheck on their behalf. I don't mind paying by credit card, but some don't take credit cards. I do have comchecks, but I never issued one before. I was always on the receiving end.

How do you issue a comcheck? I am working with one broker who tells us to submit a receipt, and for us to cover the fee upfront, later to be reimbursed. The price is hefty over $200 for a lumper fee, so I'm putting money upfront before being paid.
We took one load serving them which went okay, but it still is under 30 days, so we didn't get paid yet. But for that load, there was no lumper fee involved.

I did cereal loads for Landstar Brokers for several months and I would pay the lumper fees up front and they would reimburse me on the rate sheet and I would get paid in a few days for the load plus the lumper fees.

I paid also for a lumper fee before. I used my credit card. I got reimbursed each time. The problem lies is that some places won't take a debit or a credit card.
They want cash or a comcheck. I never issued one. So, I want to know how to do it.

You can't issue a Comcheck/EFS/T-Check unless you have an account set up through their system.

Unfortunately, you can pay with a card and have to wait for the broker to reimburse you if they even accept cards. As you mentioned some do not. Comdata and the other companies have increased their fees.I have paid $10 and $16 fees for using checks. It sucks because you are charged and it is not your freight

You can get a card from comdata that’s like a prepaid credit card, then you can transfer from card to check via their app. Last time I did it that way was $5 charge.
Certain fuel cards from efs or comdata you can issue money codes from your phone.

I have a fuel account set up through EFS wirh a $5,000 credit line attached to it.

I can go online and issue an EFS check code through my account and then get reimbursed from the broker.
Although, I prefer to let broker do it. Especially if there's no junk fee like $10.

    EFS charges me $2.50

    Okay.

I agreed to take two loads for them on a weekly basis to the end of August.
Their lumper fee is above $200. So, I'm borrowing more than $400 each week. That is almost $2,000 in one month. So, I don't think I did well by taking them. Not even I will wait a month to get paid which I am okay with. But I will have to borrow my own money that I need to run my business.

I am surprised why brokers wouldn't do it in the first place.
