Insurance companies have their own shared database that show any claims. Doesn't matter if there was a police report or if it went on an MVR. Any claim will show and starting off at any new company with a lie would not do you well.
I would start calling other companies and comparing rates before your renewal comes up. I do this every year and I don't have any accidents. Just want to make sure I paying the least amount I can. -
Depending on the severity and your own willingness to gamble if you ever get into a minor accident offer the person a large sum of money to walk away with no info exchange. It is risky, they could sue you anyways and deny receiving any money and there are other potential problems.

You can use similar waivers, etc., that an insurance company would use, just not through an insurance company; exchange money for signature.Solo Soul and RunningAces Thank this.

The scammer will scrawl something illegible for a signature and claim it wasn't him that signed. You're now back at square one, but having to pay more for a handwriting expert to prove it's his signature...

ID, compare signature, blah, blah, blah... you know, just like you do with any contract.
And yes, I could do it all from my phone, on the spot, if needed; although that is unlikely (and if someone is pushing for an immediate cash settlement, there's a very high likelihood it's a scam). The times I have used it were choices to have damage paid for out-of-pocket, rather than through an insurance company.
Only a fool would just pay money without properly protecting themselves against recourse.baha Thanks this. -
Exactly, No cops, no report, doesn’t make sense.Magoo1968 Thanks this.
