Got my truck in trouble -packed eng compart. full of snow. Now cleaned out and with no load, runs fine until eng warms up, then stalls, turn ignition off, then restarts and runs fine again, but then continues to shut down every mile. Something got damaged, but can't find what it is. It was suggested that the computer is shutting you down because it Can't read the eng or coolant temp. The engine is an M11 in a 1995 Int..I have no special tools but hate to go to a shop. Any suggestions??

    Pray for a miracle?

How exactly does one get an engine compartment packed full of snow?
Plowing through it like a super trucker with 'no fear'?

Start by cleaning all small wires inside batt. compartment, they lead to ecm then unplug all sensors under hood and spray with ele. cleaner? Look at rad. level sensor and clean it?

The ECM on that particular engine is on the center left of the block near the filters. Its a small rectangle approx the size of a small bible.

Start clearing snow out or better yet, get it inside a heated shop and wait a day. Then try it again after it dries off and quits dripping all over the floor.

If you still throw problems, then hunt the revelant wiring and sensors. Or have the big shop take care of it.

I had it in a heated shop until everything was dry. The fan belts had to be replaced. Could be the magnetic fan isn't turning as fast as it should or if the Wiring is damaged?. Why does switching ignition key off, and then right away starting up again? The coolant is not hot. The eng oil is fine. The stalling intervals were repeated every mile or so.( It couldn't be a fuel problem, eh?) Say if it was a damaged coolant sensor or wire, but my gauge still shows normal. The ECM seems to reset itself when I turn ignition off. Will it do that if it can't get a temp reading? Or if the fan drive doesn't engage?

Did you figure it out ?
95 international with Cummins should have a diagnostic switch and blink codes ? If it’s intermittent ecm signal it might not record a code check your wiring from battery and alternator to the ecm

    Bertie Thanks this.

The M11 shuts down at shorter & shorter intervals as I'm driving. From the start, I can do 5 mi., then less each time, till I could only do 1/2 mile. That couldn't be from a bad connection. Doesn't that seem like a temperature problem?
