Hi; new guy here to the site, might as well say hello and ask questions.

I have an M11-370 (Celect Plus) built in april of '98. It will soon need a water pump and I have available an externally identical pump that looks like it fits. However... it's a 'short shaft' pump.

Is there any way i can tell if my engine uses a short or long shaft water pump without tearing the original out? I don't have a label on the rocker cover, nor on the ECM, thus i can't get the CPL #.

I'm also curious about the seal kit i received from the local dealer. it has no traditional gaskets, only o-ring seals (four of 'em). Did I get the wrong seal kit, or am I that far behind the times?

If you tell us the make of the truck and the VIN someone will be able to get the engine serial number and get the info you need. This isn't an International truck is it?

no.. it's a Freightliner. i'm just curious, wish i'd thought of this before the local Cummins shop shut down. never knew there were two shaft lengths for this waterpump

thanks, earthmover and heavyd... called cummins this morning, and found out the pump i have might fit, or might not. My cumalong has two accessory drives, so i need a longshaft pump... but the short shaft pump doesn't have a threaded end to bolt on the accessory drive pulley, as does my replacement pump. aftermarket has its risks. At least the gaskets are the correct ones
