I equate Mac to Harley Davidson motorcycles. They have a loyal following, you pay more, and the resale value of Mac is a lot higher. PC's are pretty much throwaway computers. I got nothing against Mac, just a bit overpriced for my budget.

Like the analogy! Definitely overpriced for my budget too! The only reason we have one is that we bought it from a friend for cheap.:biggrin_2559:

You get better performance for a lower price. Depending if you build it yourself of course.

For those that think it is hype, I do own a MacBook, an iMac, and Dell PC and a custom built PC.

I like the Harley analogy too. Owning a PC is like owning a Harley, it is more of a Hobby (time repairing).

Sure there is compatibility issues with Macs, but t s better than spending half a day trying to figure out which driver is corrupt and if the virus is causing the machine to freeze up. Rebooting and rebooting.

I was glad to spend the extra twice to save the time and frustration of the pc garbage.

    But to each their own

You are blaming the hardware, when the fault lies with the OS. As for viruses, Windows is vulnerable because 98% of home computers are running it. Even if Windows was polished and perfect, which it's far from, it would still bear the brunt of viral attacks. Modern Macs these days are using the same hardware as a high end PC. You can even install Windows on them. Doing so will give you all the same problems you described above. A modern Mac is nothing more than a high end PC with an alternate OS on it. I'm not a Windows fan, I normally wipe it off and put an alternate OS on my PC. The Vista install that came with my laptop occupied 17 gigs on my hard drive, that's ridiculous. It would crash during boot 2/3 of the time. I ended up putting Debian Linux on it and and it screams. I boot up in under 20 seconds, my programs open instantly. If I need Windows, which I rarely do, I have XP running on a virtual machine.
The hardware is pretty much the same, except for Mac uses only high end parts, and in my mind, that justifies the price jump. On the same token, I can build a PC with the same parts Mac uses, and install OSX on it. It's done all the time.

I have a 13" Macbook Pro and a 15" HP running Vista. The HP has 6 inches of dust and hasn't been used in a year. Never going back to Windoze!

If you spec out a PC to the same level as a Mac, the price would be comparable. When my clone PC died a few years ago, I bought a Mac Mini (with the ex now) and the frustration level dropped 100%.
You are paying for the experience along with the performance and reliability.

Mac's are not hobby computers owned by geeks anymore.
Look at the kids getting them now, they might be able to hack stuff, but have no idea how to turn a screwdriver and usually, they just download other people's stuff and install it... big whoopee.

Anytime I have to get on a PC, it's frustrating and slow and harder to use.

I was going to suggest the same thing when this thread first started. If anyone is considering MAC, get a free copy of Linux and try it out on your PC. MAC is nothing but a UNIX shell or kernel (imo) and your paying for the name. As far as the old age debate of who's better. Both get spyware, virus's and can be hacked into.

Again you are blaming the hardware when the fault lies with the OS. Windows is simply an awful OS.
