A long while back when wood prices fell to nothing a local logger chained gravity boxes on his log truck. 2 on the truck and 1 on the pup. The empty weight was about double any other grain hauler but he survived when lots of others went under.
    Good old "where with all".

I was just messing with you, but when I was a kid there were very few semis around mostly tandem grain trucks and tractors with gravity beds. But the guy who owned the local John Deere dealer at the time would fasten gravity beds to his trailer that he hauled equipment on and haul grain. Amazing how times have changed. Not the farmers compete on who can get the longest wheelbase truck with the most chrome and the biggest sleeper they'll never sleep in.

Being a used trailer, I don't think you should be paying FET on that baby. Might make your decision a little easier.

Do you if you're transferring the title from Canada to the US? US FET has never been paid on that trailer like it has on a used one originally sold in the states.

I was told that if it was manufactured in the U.S and exported to Canada when it was new that the excise tax was exempt and hadn't been paid.

However if I bring it back I have to pay excise tax on the used purchase price. If the original owner paid it when new I am exempt.

I do know that to import a trailer into the U.S that was manufactured in Canada, that any and all safety recalls had to be done and reported.

This all started with me looking for a bigger 8 wheel articulated tractor than I have now. Ag is exempt from all the tax B.S. With the way the exchange rate is right now things work out to almost 30% discount.

I'm right on the very edge of the farm country in N. Wisconsin. Pretty much nothing but trees to the north and east. Up until 10 years ago it was 99% small 50 cow or less dairy's. The equipment in the area is sized the same way. The jockeys have started bringing in more and more larger used equipment in but it is usually double the price they paid for it in W. MN or Iowa.
Or you can buy new and pay 10 times what something is really worth.
So most of my junk has been bought private and drug a couple of hundred miles home.
Ever pull a folded up field cultivator that is still 20' wide 300 miles behind a pickup at 20mph top speed?
Loooong day. Bring a sleeping bag.
So since they already say I'm nuts I figure I might as well save 30% and drag stuff home from Manitoba.
Wondering what the border guards will say if a guy drives right on in with a 360hp 8 wheeler?

Not sure why you guys are all broken up over the 11/37 split.
I've pulled step decks all my life . Last 26 years. As a mater of fact my dad was one of the first guys around these parts to own one.
We have always had the 11 foot upper deck with our 45' 46' 48' 50' and 53' drop decks. Never ever in all my years has that ever been an issue with any thing we haul or any of the shippers .

Looks like a nice trailer, only thing I've always hated with the routinourer is the top deck is built really thick. So deck hight on top deck is very high compared to any other trailer. Also the extreme arc they build into the trailer can be a pain in the ### for some stuff.
Other then that it's a well built trailer.

Personally I think a Canadian built lodeking is better but that's just me.

Not to hijack this thread but I figure a couple here would like this pic. A guy uses our shed at the boss's to work on junk once in awhile. Gear shift between your legs. Cassette player in the dash. IMG_20160130_164317235.jpg

I like a man after my own heart. The other day my wife was talking about a friend of hers Facebook postings. This friend and her husband are nice people, they're city people that bought 4 acres with a pole barn and a little plot of hay. So they are raising a steer a few chickens and a pig, but to hear them tell it they're big farmers which annoys my wife. Anyway she was telling me that they bought a tractor after the woman had been complaining about money. My wife proceeds to tell me this whole story about the lack of money then buying the tractor and how it was annoying her, when she was done I said "what kind of tractor did they buy", which in turn also annoyed my wife because that's all I took from the conversation. I can't help it, it's like when she gets on me for doing 25mph looking a the corn and not realizing I'm doing it, it's in my DNA I can't help it.
