    When you start loading that 53ft in a finger dock that's built for 48's you will. The shipper can't center the load so you wind being very heavy on the rear.
    I've been doing flatbed for 6 years now with a 48ft and have never found a time a 53ft would've been helpful or made me more money.

    Ive never used the j track on our trailers. They also seem to always bE filled with debris or ice. I would skip them.

    Nope. My last truck with my former employer was a KW and with the steel 53' step I was 35k. My current setup with a Prostar/48ft aluminum flat (yea I dislike it) is 28,xxxK. I jusr had 50,445lbs of stone on it and was 79,760. While it handled it alright, I had to shuffle the load to stay legal on axle weights. Id have rather ran less weight and had a better truck/trailer set up.
