Oki... I got put into another TRUCK cuz mine was a POS. i hook up my CB and the SWR are really really high. i turn the cal nub on my thing down so i don't burn my CB up. Could it just be the firestacks on the truck? i belive they are the defaults ones on here.. Should i use my 6ft francs when i get home and try that? Or just run a wire with my wilson

Turning the cal knob does absolutely nothing to change your swr. It could be many things, make sure the plastic washers on the antenna mounts are on the top side of the mount and in good condition. All connections are connected good, andtry the other antenna's you have. IF you are using the internal meter on the radio they are not very accurate at all.

I bought the road pro swr/power one. I'll check that when I get home.

If your SWR is 3 or higher, do not use the radio because you can damage the power transistors. When the SWR is 3 or higher, that is a strong indication that you have a faulty antenna ground plane. It ain't the antenna. There is a failure of the large metal components of the truck to be interconnected into one substantial antenna ground plane for RF [radio frequency] purposes.
.
. While bonding may appear like grounding, bonding is the interconnecting of the large metal pieces of the truck to form one large antenna ground plane for RF purposes.
