you can still get a truck that is mack engine trans and rears, not many made like that anymore, if you see a gold bull dog on the hood it means the truck was made with all mack parts. but the fact of the matter is no trucks including macks peterbilts kw's are made like they used to be made.

I've driven a few Petes in my time, and now I'm in a Mack. Guess which one I'm buying...that's right, boys and girls...the Mack. For what I do (flatbedding with a lot of off road jobsite deliveries) a Mack can't be beat. Better to be making money in a Mack than stuck in a field in a Pete.

I have always said 2 buttholes staring at each other all day can't end well lol.

That is just a little mack funny not pointed at anyone other than myself maybe. Thanks for the info EZ rider I haven't seen any of those in AR good to know that they are still made even if quality has took a dive

I'm 50/50 meaning I like both Mack and Peterbilt. I'm also partial to a FLD Freightliner as well. All three you see on the road.

PACCAR (Peterbilt and Kenworth) are the only two options for top quality and service after the sale.

If tge OP doesn't like to buy American, maybe he could try Hyno, Mitsubishi, or Isuzu? Have they even tried making Class 8 trucks?

years agoI drove B81SX,, thermodyne engines I think about 180hp 20 quadaplex 2 stick trans,,20,000 steer , 55,000 double reduction rears,,air steering with no spring or air seat,,,
In the mid 70's I hauled RL686 Mack Westerns from the assembly plant in Hayward Ca to the east coast,,,Mack years ago had tuff trans and strong rears,,not the same old Mack anymore

Well there they are. Except the axle configerations in those pics tell me they are not sold in North America. May be the OP can move to South Africa and drive Asian made cabovers?
