They couldn't inspect the carry-on luggage better than that? What good are the check in stations if they let a nasty food product on board an airplane? I am pretty sure that food is not allowed, maybe if it is sealed.
If they cannot catch the rotting meat that this passenger was carrying on board, then how can they catch a weapon, bomb or drugs?

Hmmmm dead meat with maggots, or the typical airline food.

    Hard decision actually.

You would have thought they would be able to smell the rotted meat. How utterly gross! I hope they charged the passenger for cleaning and delaying the flight.

I agree that the passenger should be responsible. But, the airline rhould have checked the carry on luggage better. They are both at fault. Jmho
