Figure I’d throw a quick update out…. I got out of the P&D game. My knee wasn’t holding up and was just getting worse and worse. I got me a line haul gig going right now, so it’s all good.

Sorry to hear it didn't work out. Are you doing linehaul with Magnum?

I did an extra linehaul run from Coon Rapids to Fargo last Sunday.... I don't know how linehaul/road drivers do it - I was so bored!!

On a side note, if anyone is looking for info about Magnum LTL in Coon Rapids you can ask here and I'll try to help. Right now our driver apprentice program is starting people out in the mid $20s when they get their CDL. I've been doing P&D for 2 years now and am almost at $30/hour already!! I love working for Magnum.

50% match on 401k up to 6% (so if you put in 6% they put in 3%)

They pay healthcare premium for basic single person insurance, deductible is $6350 with HSA. Medica choice passport is the best option. Great insurance coverage once you meet the deductible

Wow, so they are keeping up with the big players in the LTL world then. When I left Estes late this summer (of 2021), they were starting P&D drivers out at $26.15 per hour. After 3 years you topped out at $29 - $30 per hour, something like that. This was in Charlotte, North Carolina which probably has a similar cost of living to the Minneapolis and Fargo area. Old Dominion's, Saia's and all the other LTL's were around the same pay per hour as well in this area.

Anyways good to see that they are paying P&D drivers a fair and respectable wage at Magnum. Very happy to see drivers paid what they're worth, even if I have for now moved out of the LTL sector.

    Dang magnum sounds good.

cooper likes using trash equipment at the smaller terminals. Training? Lol what’s that.

your truck looked washed wish they did that here… I think in the five years I’ve worked at cooper my truck was washed once and that was right before they sold to swift

@Nateman482 I’m doing a line haul meet and turn with a smaller company, making more money and still be home every night. Only down side is I have to load a trailer and usually unload a trailer when I get back, which makes it interesting on the clock at times. Lol.
