They are just like any other radio part luck, part how you use it, part how you take care if it .....paul 1052 Thanks this. -
FYI, Magnum did not manufacture the HTX-10 and do not manufacture any of their radios. They are/were manufactured in Korea to the specs provided by Magnum and Tandy. You could have your own line of radios built to your specs (FCC certified I'd bet) with the name of your choosing on the faceplate or YUP could have his own line of "Trucker Radios".

what about where it shows the power output it says PEP, the others doesnt say that.. Does that mean its not true 80 watts?
-
specs provided by Magnum
Dosn't matter they have not been made in a decade ..... all mine still work
-
Right, I bought a HTX-10 on closeout for $29.97, it was the store display.I've owned the Magnum,Albretch and Titan-RoadPro versions as well and all work good.
-
YEP I have had all of them too ....
BTW .....
There is NO certification ( TYPE ACCEPTANCE ) of HAM radios below 30 Mhz ..... Radio Shack AGREED to work with the FCC to make the HTX-10 HAM ONLY ......... -
The most factual statement in this thread. -
I bought a Raptor about a month ago, so far it's working good for me good range and sounds good both ways. I run it on the low power settings most of the time and it does just fine, there's no need for 80 watts all the time.
I run across The Dakotas, Saskatchewan and Alberta, during the winter I may get in a real bad spot and need a louder radio to get help so it seemed like a good idea.
You can find them online for under $200 so it's less that a 959 or something at a truckstop. -
Yes Sir, Tandy/Radio Shack/Realistic caught some flack from the FCC with the HTX-100 and the similar looking CB mobile they sold...TRC-485???
