You better rough up that bolt so the antenna bracket has something to bite on. If you put much of an antenna on it, the bracket is liable to slip on that slick bolt.

It's called knurling, but it's purpose is not to be a binder for a mount, knurling is used to grip with gloves or skin.

Cross hatch is whe x pattern when you hone a cylinder. Forgettin what i used to know

It's called "take a little grinding disk and put it on your dremel tool and rough it up a bit".

Typical for a widebanded low efficiency antenna.
Dummy loads work the same way. -
Join them with a couple strips of stainless steel plate for structural integrity, and you will be able to support a much heavier narrow band higher efficiency antenna.

Would a 7ft Firestik do better? I have one. I tightened the bracket up and don't have a problem with the antenna walking backwards anymore (I did at first).
