Better than what?

 

Than the 27" bottom mast Predator I'm currently using. Here's the bracket installed with my quick disconnect, no antenna.

 

The 7-foot fire stick will probably outperform the Predator 10-K with the 27 inch shaft. That's a really nice quick disconnect that you have there. Don't get rid of it because you will never find another one like it.

 

It's extremely useful and seems almost indestructible so I have zero plans to trash it. Next week I'll have to bring in my 7ft antenna and see how it goes. I do know it will be swaying like crazy.

 

Crosshatch that is cut into the surface is just to hold lubricant, nothing else. Knurling raises the surface by displacing the metal in either a single line pattern or a cross hatch pattern.

Sorry a bunch of years being a hobby machinist and 3 years of ME education doesn't let me remain silent.

 

So for the purpose here, couldn't knurling be achieved with a punch & hammer up and down the shaft intended as a gripping surface enhancement?

The 7 foot firestik kicked my monkey made's ### up one side and down the other. I don't suspect it would be much different with a predator.
