If you are still grinding gears after a day or three with a new transmission, learn (remember) how to double clutch.

Make sure it never leaks. If it does get it repaired immediately. Same for rear ends. Use only full synthetic straight 50 oil in it. It's good for like 250,000 miles.

Change your air filter on the transmission from time to time too. If the filter begins to plug, your range shift will start to get lazy.
