The reason I mentioned YRC Freight is because if you're near a terminal, those jobs are local or home every day and have Teamsters Union benefits.

For what you want, I just posted in Post #12.
The school is free and I don't think there's a contract to sign.
School is in Cleveland.

Thank you for all the great information, I will definitely look into this further. I guess my biggest question is driving a semi/tractor trailer the right fit for me, I have done enough research on these forums to see that while many offer some home time it’s typically uncommon. This is why I am considering more local type of work like dump truck for company or union, possibly work for local delivery company. Maybe even consider hot shot car hauler where I could buy my own truck and trailer, that way I can choose the vehicles I want to haul and the schedule I prefer.

Thank you again. I have a friend that purchased a box truck and has a class b, he frequently runs to New York and a few surrounding states, he makes around 7-8k a month after everything is paid in regards to insurance and cost of truck. The only problem is sometimes he has to stay overnight a few nights a week. I don’t need to make that kind of money, I am
happy with 50-60k. This is what I’m trying to accomplish as far as compensation and having a career that I feel like I can enjoy and feel more freedom. Thanks -

All companies offer home time. Don't believe drivers that tell you you'll be on the road for weeks or months. If they are out that long, then they don't make wise or informed decisions.
You may be out longer than you want at first, but that ends when the training period is over and you're assigned your own truck.Last edited: Jul 20, 2021
