    Cerberus,
You seem like a knowledgable bright fellow about trucking. I am looking for another position now. I only have 3 months solo driving experience and was discharged by Crete, I was charged with a preventable "failure to report an accident and leaving the scene of the accident" for a date I was not even there. I think that Crete is a good company, but they have become excessively anal since the driver killed 10 in Fla and the DOT has them under the microscope now. I was wrongfully discharged and they know it. They would not even give me an opportunity to show them that I was not even there on the date they charged me with, too quick to discharge. Have an accident review board tomorrow to get this removed. What companies would you suggest to consider to get another job? Your advice would be much appreciated.

Schneider called today. Offer was 14 days training. But here's the rub, the job was for a hazard materials. The man said not a problem about getting an endorsement. I would be home six days a month and the pay offered was .29 a mile. What you guys think? Haven't made it over to the school yet but still plan to. This week has been busy as for as the cab goes, so finding the time to stop by has been a problem.

    Cabbiesouth,
Schneider will take many drivers, I believe that you have to commit for 1 year to get the training, that's a long committment for 14 days training. I had looked into them and found that there were more problems than it was worth. Look at posts regading Schneider under Bad Companies. However, in your case maybe it would be alright. You can put in a year and move on.

ShortStack, you may want to check with USF GLenMoore, I believe they take drivers with less than 1 yr experience and have a terminal in Knoxville.

I turned them down after thinking about it. I thought it strange to offer a newbe a job hawling liquids with no or little exprience. I would father spend the spring and summer months putting a few miles behind me with loads that don't tend to move around very much. Don't want to go into winter and ice without having basic trucking skills. Still calling around J B Hunt called, but wanted at lest six weeks before they would take me on. Might go with Swift after there days in Dallas and go out as a team with a trainer. Not decided as of yet, but Swift say's that I'm approved. We'll see. Thanks

I would start reading some of the comments people have made about companies you may be considering.. That would help you make a good decision.. I think JB has like 98 pages of negative post lol.. just read up before you jump into something...
