    Fast. Cheap. Reliable.

    Pick two.

    Or so I've been told.

I believe that some m11 do not have oil galleries in the conrods and because of this they can not handle the high HP, (also the stiffner plate issue) I also believe that the suitable m11 can safely be taken up to 450hp . ISM are 285 to 450 HP

earth mover, if you are asking me I don't know what the mileage was pre-up rate as I did it as soon as I bought it, sounds like my truck is exactly the same as yours, (Penske?) I would love to swap that gappy 9 speed for a 13 to get more usable power in the top side of the tranny. I agree with post above, if you need more than 1450 might as well look for a 15L, JMO.

Old thread, but has anyone gone further than 370 without issue? I really only want the 1350 rating but I might swap out to a 10 speed first.

My dads old truck, which we still have as a backup, is a 330 M11 that was taken up to either 400 or 425 by the previous owner. We bought the truck with 590k on it and it now has 1.2 million on it and the only thing we've done to the engine was the rods and mains at 900k, an aircompressor, and a couple of injectors. This truck has a super 10 and pulls really well. We pulled a bullrack and a hopper with it so it was worked hard.

any update on horsepower upgrades on the 330E M11....i want to put mine out as far as it will go safely...i am always pulling weights of 43500 ton and it is coupled up to an 18 speed eatons box....i believe the ECM reprogramme will make this happen. Just out of intrest to you Cummins fans, the old M11 in my 401 Kenworth has done close to 2.4 million klms and has had 2 rebuilds, however she is getting sad and a second hand replacement is going into her in a few weeks time. So if anyone can reboot this thread it would be great

Okay so this thread a a bit old .. he's one thing to consider. The M11 has a range of power ratings. Before you go and 'turn it up' first call the deal or a qualified parts place and what the original rating is using the CPL xxxx example CPL 1856 ... what makes a turn up safe is the Consolodated Parts List which defines what type of cams, lifters are in there .. plus ... here's the cruicial part ... what transmission model is in there? The power rating a torque specific so any ol M11 can be software upgraded to 500 HP but if the transmission is 1250 torque at 1200 rpm you'll burn it out with any HP over 400.... also, when an ECM is programmed you need to specify the CPL, Tramsission model and rears ratio ... almost any M11 can be safely bumped to 375 ...just something to think about
