if i'm not mistaken its illegal to do that since the truck was not a glider from the factory, i mean you can do it, i've seen folks do it but its still illegal

Something else you might look into is find one with an A-cert in it and do a conversion kit.

It is doable , but not legal. Once that VIN was built with a emission engine , only that version or greater can go back in . Gliders are getting around that issue.

Just out of curiosity, how are gliders registered?. Is there something with the VIN that means it doesn't correlate to build year emissions?.

why not just rebuild the engine and install a EGR/DPF by pass system or eliminate the EGR/DPF completely

Why not just buy a real glider kit instead of trying to re-invent the wheel? It would probably be a lot cheaper and save a lot of headaches.

Don't let a bridge motor detour ya. If U can get it for a good price just a few things to do to it and it will be just as good as the 6nz. It's not as bad a engine as some folks think. Good Luck

First, if you buy a glider most things you need are not in the truck.
Second, cost. You can save $40k+ getting a nice used tractor and put the engine and trans in you want.
Third, is time (negative). You have to be able to have your truck down for a month. It takes a long time to rebuild then install the new powertrain.
