The problem is they ain't complete. :) They cost about $2.50 in a grocery store and $4-$5 at a truck stop. They taste like crap.

I feel for you Woof as we all been there. If one smokes cigarettes it's even worse. Try to live off of $5 Subway, 2 for $2 hotdogs and off the dollar menu. Don't go pushing your trainers buttons to make him mad.

Some companies will give you a cash advance but it comes out of your next check. You just have to struggle and make it through.

My trainer was a female and had a heart. She liked to stop and eat and many times she bought my dinner.

The day I paid my loan off I quit that company and got a better job.

You could always catch him driving, close the curtain and chow down on his food! lol

He'll have to stop then if he runs out.

I thought it was a good suggestion. I've seen a lot of drivers eating those at terminals and truck stops. Heck, anything is better than starving right? Sounds like the guy is hungry..lol.

See if you can chat with him. You have to stop for your 30 minute breaks and your sleeper time, anyway. He should let you do that at Walmart when you need to.

How about Special K meal and snack bars? They give you what you need and don't take up a lot of space. If you eat a lot of soups or those Dinty Moore meals just be aware of the high sodium content. I always have a loaf of bread, peanut butter, tuna packets and beef jerky in the truck.

Nothing wrong with offering suggestions.Complete meals are ok sometimes but after awhile you get sick of it.When I first started driving my boss/owner operator gave me boxes and boxes of those army meals that he got freee because he was hit hard from the hurricane in Florida. They were delicious at first then I got to the point only thing I ate from it was the dessert.

Of course he wants to "keep rolling". You're a cash grab to him, nothing more, nothing less. Next time you're behind the wheel and there's a Wally World with parking, stop the truck and get what you need. If he gives you #### about it,just calmly tell him that the truck needs fuel to run,and so do you,and that unlike him,you can't afford to live off of overpriced TS food at the $300 or so slave wages your company is no doubt currently paying you. If he continues to play "lord & master",I'd ask for a new trainer, and tell them why. You wouldn't be the 1st to request a different trainer. Believe me,He knows what he's doing to you.For Chrissakes, he should be BUYING you dinner daily for the amount of money it sounds like you're making him. ;-)

This is just disgusting!! Who does this? What planet is this behavior from? O.P. shouldn't be treated like that EVER!! I can't even believe what these noobs go through! I've never!!! I'd stop that truck and throw his stinking arse out on side of the road!! Can you think of any other industry that this happens too? This kind of behavior HAS TO STOP! The company that they are working with needs to be notified, and if they agree,QUIT! Sue them or something,I can't even begin to understand this M.O.!!!!

I agree, but as long as companies can get away with it they will..Its all about money in trucking. They could care less about the students. They got their cut from the government.Companies do not have an open door policy because if they did they would be less of a turn over rate for trainees. If I was a trainer i'd be sharing my meals with trainee and help trainee out with groceries.Afterall if it weren't for the trainnes, trainers wouldn't have very good paychecks.

Not trying to start an argument here, but how much extra does a trainer make as opposed to just a driver? I understand that he gets paid for the increased miles driven by his charge, but are there other payments to him for training someone, and is it really worthwhile to him/her to help make the student comfortable?

I don't question the morality of helping the trainee get what he or she needs. I think OP is getting screwed around with too. I'm just trying to get a handle on the dollar part.
