(sigh) THAT is the exact mindset that makes for a very dangerous driver.

i had the exact same reaction

to say you can drive is one thing, but to adamantly say that you can drive like someone with 20yrs experience is TOO MUCH CONFIDENCE

i was reading the test that Triple Six posted, reminded me of my father. That doesnt come with a rookie, not easily, luckily maybe a rookie would remember, but experience teaches you to remember certain factoids when driving, and close bridge heights are one of those you keep in mind long after you have left the bridge

but this is the common idea of much of the public, the government and even some drivers.........any monkey can do it

but when you have an accident, all of a sudden, you are supposed to be this experienced professional

Yep this a BAD thang ! when you think you know it all. you don't ! that is gonna get you and probably someone else hurt. sure you may be able to shift gears and back a trailer, but there is much more to to driving that you can only get with driving. like what to in snow and ice or when something fails and your rolling with 80,000 lbs down a 6 percent grade at night in a blinding snow ! so stop think about what you just said and seeing that you just posted on an open site that you were thinking of falsifying your resume it probably wont matter.

NO! Most of these companies have their own private investigators in which do extensive background checks! I would highly recommend you never tell a fib on your application! They will find out the truth. Maybe not that day, might take a week or two or three but they will find out the truth and then you will be up the creek with no paddle!

Not to mention its very easy to tell someone who has experience and someone who doesn't in this industry.

If the company is legitimate, they will be checking what you put on your application, and they will fire you when they find out the truth. If they're not legitimate, you might get to work, but you might have trouble getting a paycheck. But good luck with whatever you do!

Be sure to mention that to the wrecker driver when he's pulling your ### and truck out of a ditch, because that's exactly what'll happen when you get that attitude and get too complacent behind the wheel bud.:biggrin_25525:

“To know how good you are at something requires the same skills that it does to be good that thing. Which means if you
are absolutely hopeless at something, you lack exactly the skills that you need to know you are absolutely hopeless at it.

And this is a profound discovery — that most people who have absolutely no idea what they’re doing have
absolutely no idea that they have no idea what they doing
. It explains a great deal of life. It explains, particularly,
Hollywood. But it also explains why so many people, in charge of so many organizations, have no idea what they are doing.
They have a terrible blind spot.”

    – John Cleese

Apparently that applies to wannabe truck drivers, too.

Most companies dont investigate because they need drivers. You can fudge your way in, what you cant fudge is the record that will follow you after it becomes apparent you have no skill. That usually involves high dollar property damage or God forbid a fatallity.
