I agree, I do not like anyone tailgating so close I only catch a glimpse of them every once in a while. But to actually try to make things on the road hit a car tailgating you is nuts. Their driving is not safe to begin with yet adding more dangerous elements to the situation is not solving anything. Only thing it could do is make a bad situation worse.

I was called a dangerous driver or whatever because I went less than an hour over my HoS just a week ago on this very forum. When I was far from being tired.... Yet this behavior is "thanked" and accepted? Wow...okay. Whatever. lmao

There's a lot that irks me where other drivers are concerned. Most have been stated. The jumping in front of faster traffic(trucks and four wheelers) to pass a truck that is going 2 mph slower. That is one thing I just don't understand. Why can't the driver let the other traffic by then work on passing. I guess it sucks having to tap your break, watch others pass you, then resume your cruise.

Just the over all in considerate "professional" drivers out on the road get my ire the most. It seems to me that a lot of drivers only care about themselves. They have no respect for the other drivers out on the road. Does not matter who they inconvenience as long as they are not troubled. Sometimes I wonder if they even realize there are other big trucks on the road, as they are kicked back, phone to their ear, oblivious to everything around them.

Most of the time I let crap roll off me and keep right on truckin'. But sometimes....lol It is refreshing when I get passed and I hit my lights and get thanked. Or I'm passing someone and wave and they wave back. It's sometimes difficult to not let a few bad apples spoil the opinion of everyone.

What am I supposed to do when there's something in the middle of the road that I can roll right over without touching it but know the car illegally riding my rear bumper will hit? Swerve into oncoming traffic just so the idiot behind me can see the thing in the road? How the hell is them hitting something while breaking the law in any way my fault?

Just take on board what constitutes a preventable incident. That is, one in which you failed to do everything reasonable to prevent it. It may not be reasonable to swerve into oncoming traffic to open up the 4-wheelers line of sight. He probably wouldn't be looking, anyway. But, how about slowing down to the point where he has no choice but to realize that something is going on that might require his attention? What about stopping if it is safe, and moving the debris onto the shoulder?

Most drivers will stop and assist if they come up on an accident situation, without judging the reason for the collision, so you might be saving the next trucker some time by helping to prevent the accident that he ends up helping to clear up.

As professionals, we are not there to police the roads. There are plenty of others who are paid to do that, but we should treat the road (which is, after all, one of the tools of our trade) with respect.

I've got a gripe. I don't know if this is a new trend, but I've noticed it get worse in say the last two years. I'll be chuggin' along the 80/90, east or west. Cruise set at 64 (fuel gains), and every time I look in my west-coast, I have some nit-wit in another truck, that can't judge distance and road speed apparently, until they can clearly read my door seal number, before finally getting in the left lane to go around. Not only do I find it totally unprofessional, and greatly annoying, but I have to admit, I do day dream, and hope one day I have a real reason to hit the breaks when it happens again.... just to see how big a driver's eyes get, when he has to change his shorts......

One I always loved was when you pass another truck and they wait til you get just far enough ahead that you will be looking in your right mirror.......

then ..... BAMMO !!!! .... High Beams in your mirror.

Seems the concept of blinking lights OFF/ON/OFF/ON has gone the way of the DODO bird.

(yes, I know, but if you can't turn off due to DRL's, then DO NOTHING.)

Icing on that cupcake is when they smart off to you on radio cause you didn't "thank them" by blinking your trailer lights back at them.
