looking at a manac aluminum 53’x102” flatbed. It’s the darkwing model. Does anyone know about manac? Look like they are more popular in Canada. I think it’s a good price that I got quoted so am interested in it. Thanks

Manac is one of the best aluminum flatbeds built, with prices to match. Seldom seen advertised used, as they are frequently sold privately, word-of mouth. If you have found one for sale at a price you think is good, it probably is a good deal.

I'm no expert but I think they make a nice trailer. The place I used to work at had a couple of their 48-102's and a couple 48-80 stretches. I spent quite a bit of time under all of them doing PM's and just liked how they were built. I'm pretty sure one of our customers has a few Darkwing rentals from Hale and they do look nice also...

Found a new 2017 model. 53’x102”, front lift axle, tire inflation system for $34,500. Its leftover stock.

Usually the 53s have the spread set forward to be legal in CA and FL.

I knew an outfit that ordered some 53 spreads with the rear axle to the back like that...When the cops here in NY got wise to them...they were getting written up quite a bit...they eventually got rid of them.
As Opendeckin said, the rear axle of a 53 shouldn't be all the way to the rear...could it be that's why it's a "leftover"?
We used to have four 53' Fontaines with sliding tandems. Two were '04s and two were '07s. The older ones allowed you to slide tandems all the way back but on the '07s the holes stopped a few feet from the back so you couldn't put them all the way back...I assumed for whatever that "wheelbase law" is...

There is another indicator on 53' trailers and that is the ICC bar is narrower than the width of the trailer.
