I would be pleased not to have to see that bridge again in my life time, It was worth my trucking life going up there daily for hunts and other places. But 9-12 I crossed it at 9:30 with spouse and saw about 20 acres of burning piles at the end of the Manhattan south all the way down through the pax window with a load of narcotics for Connecticut from Toledo-Detroit.

I think my heart broke a little bit that night. We came out of there on 9-13 well enough. Thought about using the Newburgh but time was pressing.

I leave you with this thought. The Population on the highways were so ... scared I suppose that the driving was textbook smooth and perfect for about a month and change. No panic horsing, stops or whatever. Everything was just like driving school. Then I guess the people let the hair down after about a year.

I think you're adding a lot of time to your day . If he's going to the Eastside 2nd is the fastest off the degan 3rd Ave bridge . Than take 1st or 3rd uptown . Heading uptown taking 10th ave to the 145th st bridge usually works for me if I'm on the westside also .

run about 32-34 mph and you should hit green lights all the way down 2nd ave. Go around 1-3am. If you have time.
Bway is fine and a no brainer. The Deegan takes a little maneuvering to get to and some idea where to get off. It's not hard though. If your nervous about it, run Bway. The exit is RIGHT AT THE END OF THE BRIDGE. Stay in the right lane across the bridge. You won't have time to cross lanes otherwise. If you screw that up, Stay in the second to left lane, get out from under the apartments and shoot all the way over to the second to right lane. That lane will take you to Deegan south. It's a %^&** to cross those lanes earlier in the night. Oh yeah, DO THIS AT NIGHT!!
When leaving take 1st ave all the way up to the Deegan, if you have to take the bridge back. There are other ways, but if you're not familiar that'll be the least stressful

We now have 2 tractors with NY EZpass, they took out the cash lanes and it is a hassle to pay the tolls or they would be doing that.

I usually went into Brooklyn, and sometimes left by the GW, so I never paid that toll leaving Jersey.

Just do midwest now, the 2 teams go to the east coast, and Cali goes strictly on outside carriers.

They took out the cash lanes??? Whoa.

I know there are some who wish to remove cash from our Society, but it's not good. There are still people who use it.

Agreed, but it is what it is. Last time in, I paid the G (Goethals) and probably Whitestone crossing the Sound. Came out of Flatbush mid day and it was a bad day.

Gambling is still cash but that is watched like a fox in a henhouse.

Probably several reasons, getting away from cash solves several potential problems, and the Port Authority gets the money before the toll earned.

Even on listed truck routes off the interstate you'll be fine. I did food service all over the 5 boroughs with a 13'2 48 ft'er and a 230in wb cascadia. Made under a few bridges that were 11 and change. Most of the time that 1ft rule is really 2ft + most of the time unless its white instead of yellow. When in doubt stop. Who cares if you hold up traffic the place is ####ed every which way from sideways to begin with

Always heard it was measured from the center of the axles, 12' 1" was about as low as I would trust, but I'm pretty good from driving Chicago, took a 13'6" down Lake Street from Ogden to Peoria, only decent way to get there that time of day, decent is stretching it.

They did run off the moochers (Calvin(Cadillac ) and the others).
