    Maybe it should be shorter...

I disagree. Mack was a much better product before Volvo had to #### with it. The French (Renault) at least had enough sense to let Mack do what it does best.. Volvo doesn't seem so inclined.

Was not saying the short lash was a good thing.

That was in response to Lux Promethus' post saying that perhaps the leash should be shorter.

We are on the same page. People bought Mack for a reason for years! Now it's almost just a rebadged Volvo?

Well, the video is one thing, the owners of vocational Mack trucks in construction and other industries are less than thrilled with what Mack has become since Volvo took the reigns. Just glance thru some of their industry rag's articles about Mack and you will quickly learn that Mack is losing some of the reputation it had for decades.

For regular highway use, the iShift may be a solid performer. But there are some real PO'd customers that have gotten the mDrive Mack version of the iShift, along with the rebadged D13 engine, called the Mack MP8. And the folks who mostly buy the Mack products are more vocational users. Sure there are the Pinnacle highway trucks, and they probably do as good a job as the Volvo stuff. But Mack did not build it's reputation on the highway so much as with the heavy and vocational markets. In that arena, Volvo has given them a black eye.

Cowpie, then it is Mack's fault for not using the right "stuff" from Volvo.
There is a version off the I-shift specially built to do on and off road.

I guess it depends on how much real control Volvo has over Mack, and how much Mack is trying to resist (one of the oldest stories in the book).
