If he smokes on his own time, in the privacy of his own home, and never drives impaired, why exactly should he quit?

I like to get drunk on the weekends at my house. Should I have to quit driving too?

    Yeah, really. :biggrin_2559:

The last bbq I went to at a buddy's house basically had three groups of "partiers". Drinkers, smokers, and drinker/smokers.

As the evening progressed the smokers ended up in the living room watching a movie and eating popcorn. The drinkers were in the backyard breaking fence boards with their heads.

--It was quite entertaining, but it's obvious that society's "acceptable standards" of recreational impairment is whacked-out.

Wouldn't that actually be the "wrong" conditions? :biggrin_25523:

Only for as long as the drug remains in your system.

Because sooner or later, could be way later, when he gets his random test and gets busted, hey will lose his license to drive and unless he can show a hardship (maybe not even then) he will be stuck with no license and it will be a hassle and cost lots of money to even get his cdl back. Not to mention finding another job where you have to use other means to get to and fro.

To me its your lively hood to where you make money so the risk isnt worth the reward you get of making a living. Yeah its nice to unwind however anyone does but if you dont do it then you have no worries. To me not having to worry about anything drug related as far as cops, accidents, tickets, etc is a load of my mind trying to focus more on driving and my job. But hey theres ways around everything so depends on the route you take. To each his own

The solution is to test for present impairment, not previous use.

I used to smoke also. There comes a time in life when you say screw this stuff, it's time to grow up. As the other drivers stated, even if the wreck is not your fault, once the drug tests come back, you could be spending some time behind bars. If i was you i'd give it up. Good luck to you!
