Kind of interesting though, since a friend got rear ended and not ticketed, but the company and the police wanted the test performed on him.
No fatality, but serious injury. -
Hey supertruckin you didnt even take a pre-employment drug test? I'v had a few seasonal gigs back in 2008 and one of the companies only had 2 trucks but there was pre employment and post accident testing. One of the drivers was rear ended by a car and it wasnt his fault but he went straight to the test after that. After you get clean you also need to fight the urge to smoke because you are an active smoker and when you quit you will find yourself craving the drug...and you will start all over again.

well him having to take that test even though he was not cited. was that officers interpetation of the law. was she killed in the accident? was the drivers actions at the seen enough to give im probable cause? we all know the driver was scared, nervous etc. but the officer or trooper could of took this as under the influence?
SheepDog Thanks this. -
Serious injury to the passenger in the 4 wheeler that struck him in the rear left side of the trailer while passing on the right other vehicles. He was in the granny lane. -
Motor carriers are free to have higher standards if they so choose....they just can't lower them beyond what the DOT requires in the FMCSR.
That's the bottom line. Company can still request a DT. Dent a fender on private property or a flat tire in the plot. Kind of stupid but they still have the right. YOU work for them. Funny thing is this job I'm on now 3 other teamsters have damaged property w/ a truck and no DT! Go figure.SheepDog Thanks this. -
Wow, so many responses! Thanks to everyone who is responding and for trying to help me other than run me down! I guess I have smoked for so long on my own time because I know of several other drivers who smoke and I never thought much of it until I had a good "buzz" last night and for some reason started thinking about what would happen if I was in a crash and was drug tested. And no i wasn't drug tested pre-employment... I work for "Poor" farmers here in indiana and its farming first, trucking second... I didnt even sign any hand books or anything like that just filled out w-2's. I know it is going to be hard to quit but I will be saving a ton of money and I am going to take the money i usually spend a week on herb and put it in savings account.

He was pissed off because his truck just got fixed up after some guy slid a trailer into his lane on an icy curve and almost wipped out the drivers side of the truck. -
If so it's strictly a mental thing,I had no such issues whatsoever, weed simply has no physical addiction properties causing cravings like alcohol or nicotine.
Like I said in my post,if you have the right mindset it's not a problem to quit.SheepDog Thanks this. -
I've had two dump jobs that never tested. But that's besides the point.
The one thing that hasn't been said yet is you will be sued. Even if the other party is at fault and you have something illegal in your system, you are considered at fault.
It's not pennies either. You can plan on paying the other party the rest of your life. You might file bankruptcy. But they'll get what you own right now. Goodbye Honda, laptop and Xbox!
THC stays in your system a month.SheepDog Thanks this.
