If you could have shown him it transmits 5 times further than his own radio, he probably would have paid full retail for it.
not relevant a lot of 497 s have been working fine on people's bench . but not working correctly in a driver's trk... I run much bigger radios than that 497 and I have for a long long time...money is never a issue with me with what I do....
Back when Mark reworked my Uniden 78LTW, I saw skill. He added echo, among the other things he did, and after he was done you couldn't tell it wasn't stock by looking at it. Echo board hard mounted inside the radio, wires ran with along with the existing wire harness, it was top notch. Since then, I've had CB hacks try to explain their lack of skill as better engineering. "We use bubble wrap and black tape to cushion the echo board and to protect the interior components of the radio."
the older radios where a lot better than a whole lot of these new ones...Sean the owner of Stryker doesn't give a ####. every Stryker sold he makes $80 off of it...if it screws up he'll give you a phone number to a Stryker repair warranty place. which Is just a cb shop somewhere in the USA
like i said it was just a impulse buy.... get real no such thing as a tune.... only mark and I mean only mark knows actually how to tune a radio. no big deal I'm over it.
I tried to educate a driver tonight. Had a HUGE splatter box he just bought that sounded like crap. Not sure what it was because i couldn't understand him well enough. He did have a Cobra 29 that was tuned by whoever tuned the new radio and swiiiiiiings 50 watts. Hahaha!
all these cb shops out here convert these radios set the dead key hi and low and that's all you get. if your lucky
