You wouldn't make any money in a paid for truck at that kind of rate. I figured it was a dollar a mile + surcharge. Hard to believe they find people willing to work for that.

I don't need much to survive. Most of my stuff is already paid off.

I think the rate is higher than a dollar plus the fuel surcharge. I’ll ask an O/O the next time I see one. I know a few of them were running Walmart dedicated loads out of Tomah,WI.

Same, except for my mortgage that's a whopping $650 a month. There's no profit in a rate like that. If you can't make payments + profit on a brand new one from the rate you ain't gonna keep an old paid one going from it either. I was an o/o for 13 years before I quit it and got a company job last year.

Well most of them are happy with it. That’s all I can say on the matter. A lot of them used to run their own authorities.
    Then the market tanked!
Me personally,if I was running my own truck I definitely wouldn’t be running under $2-$3 dollars a mile, not from the way fuel prices and other expenses(insurance, registration,IFTA,etc.) have been fluctuating!
    YMMV

Thanks, I didn't take it that way. I know some guys are happy to do that. I'm telling you, it aint no good, even if you got a truck that never breaks (I want to see THAT truck lol) or whatever - it's cheap, cheap.

So I spoke with a driver today who used to run Walmart as a leased operator with USXpress a couple of years ago before they got kicked out of that particular DC. He said Walmart provided his truck fuel, so there was zero fuel cost, and it paid $1.26 a mile. If that's what Marten o/o were getting (free fuel) I can see why they'd flock to that versus running otr and buying their fuel on $1.26 or whatever it was.

Doesn't sound like a bad deal to me. Would you do it?
