Supposedly, Marten has QualComm's new MCP200 in company trucks? Is this more "big brother" or is it a good idea? Is it another means to justify terminating a driver? Just curious!

What's the matter, Kabar, you don't think a trucking corporation can be despicable? Are you for real? I don't know whether to laugh at you or cry. What are you smoking, let's all have some of that! I worked for Marten as well as a few other trucking CORPORATIONS, and I hate to be the one to break it to ya', but yes Marten sucks and Marten will fire over minor incidents. But this is nothing new under the sun for trucking companies, especially in the current downturn. It's dog eat dog in the Marten Corp offices since the economic crash, and fear is rampant amongst the office workers (dispatchers, etc.) and firing dispatchers or drivers over minor offenses is common, but it must be done in such a way as to keep them from qualifying for unemployment. Kabar's post fails.

I worked for Marten before the crash and thought they were acceptable, barely, though they have so much freight on the eastern seaboard that I didn't think I wanted to stay long. But when the economy crashed everything changed overnight. Everytime I would go to a terminal anywhere, I would see drivers cleaning out trucks so I would go ask them about it and most were fired over minor offenses. There were some I talked to that were fired for not getting enough miles even though they had worked for Marten for years and their miles were acceptable until the downturn and then suddenly their production wasn't good enough. The thing about this site is if you post about Marten to help out other drivers with a "heads up", then you will always get hecklers attacking what you say (they probably work in Martens recruiting office during the day, lol) Don't lose faith in humanity over these heckler A-holes. Thanks for sharing. You are right, Marten sucks.

Kabar, when I worked for Marten, the first thing I told new drivers is that about 80% of the trailer scales are way off. The second thing I tell them is that shippers dont always get the weight correct on the paperwork, so you are risking an overweight ticket if you slide axles according to the weight on the bills. It is nothing new under the sun in trucking for a shipper to lie on paperwork so as to get 46K of product shipped for the price of of the 42K on the paperwork when hauling by tonnage. Every trucking company I ever worked for, including Marten, has some shippers that put more weight on you than the paperwork shows. Sometimes I think it's intentional, other times it may not be. Sometimes the shipper calculates only the weight of the product and does not include the pallets. One time with Marten I had an extra pallet of flour that the shipper had put on by mistake; it was a sealed trailer so I had no way to know this until my last drop; the shipper had us donate it to the food bank. Good thing I wasn't following your advice or I would have gotten a ticket. Anything can happen, and does. Anybody but the greenest newbie knows this, so who are you trying to BS? I hate to break it to ya, but I can recall many 44K and 45K and 46K Marten loads that the bills showed as only 42K. Many of my Marten loads were heavy, so yes I paid for scales, sometimes I got reimbursed and sometimes not. You're opinion is not good advice nor credible. Your post fails.

I worked for Marten and you are exactly correct. Regarding Kabar, again I think you are exactly correct. He must be Randy Marten, or maybe Randy pays his kid or grandchild an allowance to surf thetruckersreport to pose as Kabar and defend Marten. That would explain Kabar's unbelievable posts, eh?

i have to agree with duke of fear, i have picked up out of A B many of times and had to have the load reloaded when I'd be overweight in nose or tail when i would scale out at shipper, them beer loads were aleays heavy (44+). ALWAYS SCALE
