It's a little unnerving when you are looking for a place to park and your truck is ringing the end of your working day. Safety Violations are dollars gone .....
I have made a list of places I had found along the way to stop.
My most favorite is next to a little airport that sports a 24 hour cafe. It's across the street from the last store on my sheet for that night. I like this place because my 10 hours is over the next afternoon. Not too many places like you hanging around that long.

I just found a place to park. Plenty of parking here. I'm located right across the street from momma and thems.

As I said before, I kill my brights when there is opposing traffic.

I run nights a good bit. Once I have one night run my hours keep me running them for days.
I prefer to run starting at 0300. But many times I end up ending my day at 0300-0600. On those days I normally have no problem finding parking.
I just go to a truck stop and wait for a few minutes in the almost empty fuel island. Around the start of the hour, to a quarter after the hour, someone will pull out to start the day.
That is if a space was not open already.
Most of the time you can find a few empty spaces fairly close to the buildings at 0300. The guys that stopped early and filled the lot have finished their 10 hour breaks and are on the road again.
Finding parking between 1700 and midnight is the hardest time of the day. -
Hawk Optics made a set for awhile, and you just might find them at a Pilot, if you look.Yellow night driving and brown daytime, I can wear them over my glasses if needed.
I drove lots of 2 lanes, and would keep a set of sunglasses up on my forehead for those oncoming headlights that were aimed wrong or on high beam. I can see quite a ways with factory lights, it's those deer that jump out in front of you that are hit . Gators on fresh asphalt would be hard to see and dangerous. -
i think i had some of the pilot ones-----i am kind of hard on glasses--if they are good---ok--my raybanx have lasted for yeaers--and i have another good pair that last forever--no scratches--but a cheaper pair i seem to scratch up in a few days--hmmm myabe i will check ebay--thats where i got last pair of ray bans from

I prefer to run at night a lot less 4 wheeler traffic especially in the north east night is much much better.

A good pair of shooters glasses work. They help see through road spray as well.
JimDriv3r Thanks this. -
I prefer parking away from the maddening crowd. No lot-lizards, or any other of the "amenities" associated with the truck stops, travel centers, etc. You get the idea. Still don't have a single dent in either the trailer or tractor! Too many rookies still learning how to park.

Just need to get realllllly good at parking. If you can blindside and parallel park like an expert you will find many parking spots. Also know which rest areas you can get a truck into the car area , lots of room over there.
My biggest problem with getting "creative" lies with my stupid reefer. That #### thing lets me down every time. Even if I find the worlds best hidden away spot some #### busy body will usually rat me out to the cops because of the noise.
Not gonna say its a perfect world I have driven 100 miles "extra" a few times just trying to park.
But I also know where trucks deliver there is usually a place. Behind Chain stores and strip malls usually have lighted dock areas where if you act like you belong nobody knows any different.
All in all I prefer to run at night but schedules are just that and it aint always prudent. I can count on my fingers though how many times I have just been completely shut down on finding a spot in or around a truckstop (knock on wood) (POUND ON WOOD)JimDriv3r Thanks this.
