For anyone that was at MATS did you see anything that stood out to you? Mostly interested in rolling tarps, but would love to hear what you guys thought of the show as a whole.

Yes, something stood out to me.

Freightliner wasn't there. The largest manufacturer wasn't at the largest truck show.

Apparently they are opting to go to the new show in Atlanta later this year.

Guess the marketing budget is tight for Freightliner this year.

The chameleon ruling tarp system is really nice. There was others there as well.

I can't remember the name of it offhand, if I can find it on the show program I'll come back and post it.

It was a machine that had a handle with controls like an electric pallet jack, an electrically raised and lowered fifth wheel, and an on board air compressor with gladhand connections. It enabled one person, without a truck, (or a CDL) to re-position any trailer, even 53-footers, empty or loaded.

So I guess you could send all the drivers OTR, and have the dispatcher and the office lady out in the lot spotting trailers.....

I got to the show at noon on Sunday, after having worked an overnight shift. So I picked a couple things I wanted to see, did them, and just walked around for the rest of the time. The show is HUUUUUGE!!!, like, overwhelming!

I think all the best "gimmies" get passed out on the first two days. Nary a free hat to be found on Sunday. Got a bunch of canvas bags, though. Cheaply made, but strong enough for groceries if I lay off the canned goods. I saw a lot of people with these great, sturdy looking bags from Cummins, but...all out at the Cummins booth.

A lot of the prize drawing entries just had to scan your badge, which was convenient. Cuts down on the number of entry forms you have to write.

The food is grossly overpriced(surprise surprise!). I just stopped at Big Boy on the way home.

Looking forward to next year! Go there if you can, it's a blast!

You mean 5 bucks for a soda, 3.50 for a 16 oz bottled water, and 10 bucks for a dry burger isn't fair value?
