I think I have a good idea but......what is a "top performer" according to Maverick. I look at it like this, I am well above fleet average on everything on the scorecard....I don't think I can do much more. Except get faster on loading/unloading. But I will not rush and make sloppy mistakes, I really don't care how long it takes me, as long as it's done the Maverick way.

Its sick how towards Wednesday evening and all day Thursday and Friday I bust my ### to make sure I have my time figured out right to get home Friday evening-can't wait to get home.... and then, Saturday morning I am so restless that I cannot wait to get back out on the road again.... Cruel curse, huh? LOL

Ditto. In the summer I take my truck home, so it's better then because I can look out and see the truck. I don't know why that makes a difference but it does. We spend so much time in our trucks they become part of us...it's like not having your wallet with you.sewerman Thanks this.

If you're well above the fleet average then that'd make you a top performer. Getting faster with securing, tarping, unsecuring, untarping, stowing equipment, etc comes with time. The guys that kill me are the ones with a 12 strap lumer load and walk back and forth btwn the box they stowe the straps in and the straps laying in piles on the ground down the length of the trailer. Back and forth they go. Or with the strap winders that attatch to the rub rail, they put them on the rubrail, wind up the strap, take it off the winder and put it on the front of the trailer. They still have to pick them up and put them in the box. Why not put the strap winder on the headache rack's chain bin?
I dont use a screw on winder but once all the straps are on the ground, from the rear of the trailer to the front, i stack the tag ends of the straps beneath each other while walking towards the side boxof the tractor i store them in. Once at the sidebox of the tractor, from top to bottom, wind up the strap and put it in the sidebox. Keeps me out of the way of the unloaders, saves time, and i find it to be quicker than walking up and down the trailer and/or stacking the rolled up straps on the trailer only to pick them up again to put them in the box.
One driver i met, hooked his chains together end to end and just pulled them towards him from the catwalk over the beveled timbers still on across the trailer.Evil_E Thanks this. -
