Not allowed. Whoever you talked to mislead you. Captain Im thinkin someone is just messin with you because thats not policy. The only policy is mandatory use of the factory mount. Who is taking the passenger seat out?? Never seen that one. Also not sure how a cooler could be blocking the window.
-
I've seen the seat removed to make room for a frig and I've also seen a tall frig in the passenger seat blocking the window. And yes these were Maverick trucks.

Best deadhead ever. Atchison KS to Granite City. Pays 310 miles, I did it in 305, had a 20 mph tail wind the whole time and got 10.5 mpg! That won't happen again LOL
-
Only 300 miles? I had one last week that was over 800.

I'm not really sure, I do have to say that I've never seen these policies written down anywhere. But if you ask the guys in the NLR shop they'll tell you the same thing. You know how it is with trucking, 99% of everything you hear is BS... but I figured since they're the ones who would be doing it, they know what they're supposed to do. I don't have any plans to test those rules, but I put them on here just so other drivers are aware of what NLR is saying.
I've seen several guys remove the seats entirely to put a fridge in there (like seawheeler said) and I've seen some mini fridges with a microwave on top sitting in the seat which blocks the window. I'm surprised DOT hasn't caught them yet, but I know blocking your windows is against the law. -
My run home was 132 miles deadhead empty and 570 miles loaded with only 6,280 lbs, so I got 9.3 all the way home.seawheeler Thanks this.

yep, turned an insurance claim into felony hit and run. Same thing happened to me at the Pilot in Joplin at 3am. thrown out of the bunk onto the floor, peeked out the curtain to see the center of a freightbox atop the rear passenger corner of my trailer. ducked back into the bunk to put some clothes on and thrown to the floor again when he backed off the trailer. then VROOOOOOM saw him doing about 30 thru the fuel island to get away. Thinking they'd want to stop somewhere close to check for damage, I walked to the truckstop next to the pilot no luck. I think its the Conoco across the street that he pulled out from behind, sure enough, it was the PAM trailer sans center light I was in a white T shirt gave him my best universal signal to stop at the intersection of the Conoco drive and the highway. He gunned it, I side stepped and got the trailer license plate...what an arse.

Is it a Joplin thing? lol
