I was honored by them asking don't get me wrong. It's just not for me. I know what you mean about the joy of teaching as I have worked in education previously.
I know Maverick has a hard time finding good trainers (like you). I fired my first Maverick Trainer after a week for doing all kind of crazy and illegal stuff. I wrote up a 10 page report and submitted it to the training department per their request. What did they do? Nothing, but give him another student!
I'm really glad Maverick has some great trainers like you Sarge, maybe you should become a trainers instructor and pass on your skills as a trainer.
i think you could also get one of those huge condo sleeper trucks with bunks in it and take three students on the road at a time!

Thanks for the compliment. I've mentored one class of instructors but just like drivers in orientation, you can talk to them till their heads explode but once they are out of class, its back to doing what they want to do, how they want to do it. Like sewerman says, he holds instructors to a higher standard. I do too. I tell sewerman we're "twin brothers of other mothers" when it comes to our thoughts and opinions on things. Thanks for your contributions in your past in the educational field and BIG thanks for actually letting Maverick know what happened with your instructor. Wonder if he changed his ways? Doubt it though.sewerman Thanks this.

Now that I'm pretty sure I'm going to be making the move to Maverick, I am now trying to decide on what division I should go with. I have listed what I have read the pros and cons are. If you could let me know if they are correct and maybe shed some insight on the division that makes the most that would be awesome.
Glass:
Pro- best pay @ 49cpm plus bonuses
Con- not home most weekends
Pro- you haul mostly the same thing (repetition builds speed in securing and tarping)
Con- you haul mostly the same thing (no excitement of a different load everyday)
Con- longer load/unload times means less miles
Regional Flatbed:
Pro - home most weekends
Con- lower pay @ 43?cpm
Pro- different types of loads
LH Flatbed :
Pro- different types of loads
Con- home time
Pro- get to run more 48 than regional
Con - having to run recap 70
So I guess what I'm wondering is, do the different divisions pretty much equal out in the end pay wise?
Or
Do the glass guys really make that much more?
Does LH Flatbed make more per week than regional Flatbed?
Of course these figures would have to be an average, trucking is trucking everyone is going to have good and bad weeks sometimes. -
I can only comment on glass and regional flat bed. I moved over to flat bed after just about a year in glass. Money is about the same maybe a little better in flat bed. Flat bed gets you home most weekends, glass tries to get you home every other. If glass were better organized a guy could make a mint over there, unfortunately it's not. So unorganized it drove me crazy.sarge26044 Thanks this.

Most LH flatbed dont make anymore than regional guys. A few do but not many. I think st the end of the year glass doesnt make that much more to make it worth the extra worries and headaches (you WILL run Canada in Glass div).

Sarge I hope I get a trainer like you

when it comes to trucking everybody has their own thing that they enjoy. Whether it is hauling garbage, tankers, low boys, Vans, ect.
For where you live in Indiana I would say go to flatbed US division. That is the the division that I am in.with maverick you'll make a good check and have good home time.
Just remember in trucking if they pay you a five cents more a mile for it then you should make $.10 more for it. That's just my opinion.
as for who makes the most money at maverick. As far as I'm concerned that all equals out in the wash. The drivers I know in all the different divisions, come out about the same at the end of the year.
Just my two cents.
I wish you the best in your future endeavors.Blind Dog and sarge26044 Thank this. -
Holy Shiite!!!! with those analytical skills flatbed or glass sir!!! Either division requires a bit more thinking than which door on the back of the trailer to close first.....DISCLAIMER: Thanks to the refrigerated drivers out there, my sodas are delivered ice cold for distribution at the local grocery store so "Coke" lite salutes,........ real drivers of genius.....REAL DRIVERS OF GENIUS......Here's to you Mister local driver cold soda shelf stocker.....MISTER LOCAL DRIVER COLD SODA SHELF STOCKER!!!!!!! Tis your choice. What's your poison indy? blonde, red head, brunette. because what type of trailer you haul is like your personal choice for favorite hair color on a woman (or man if your a female or alternate lifestyler). YOUR CHOICE. No matter what kind of trailer is in your rear view, we all have one thing in common. The road. Someone somewhere wants it so away we roll with it following us. keyword, you typed it, "average"
