ALL Maverick trucks have EOBR's. If you've never run a paperlog then you wont miss it but even if you have run a paperlog you will still come to enjoy elogs or at least I did. Dont buy into OOIDA's ninsense that it doesnt improve safety because it definitely does because you can cheat a paperlog where there is very little wiggle room on elogs. Also OOIDA's arguement about harassment is bogus also because with qualcomm and cell phones, carriers that are going to harass a driver are doing it already!

I guess I may be confused then. If EOBR's are just the e-log system what's the big fuss about? From my limited research on it I thought it was a separate system that did more than just log your HOS. I am still waiting to start my first driving job so I've no real experience with paper, I like the digital age and think e-logs are a better option though.

Especially good since I gotta go across some eastern KY backwoods on into Virginia. My first stop is Hazard,Ky. Just love gettin in and out of that area.

Exactly! The fuss is by those who dont run by the rules now. If they were runnin legal now then a switch to elogs wouldnt be an issue other than equipment cost. Most fleets are using qualcomm or something similar already so they wont need to buy more equipment just new software. Its really a non issue for me and a majority of drivers after they get used to elogs. Im more rested and I still make good money.
sewerman Thanks this. -
The only time I could see wanting paper logs is when your 15 minutes from home and its screaming "you are out of hours of service driving time!".

I ran on elogs and yes it easy. You don't have to rewrite anything. I'm not a fan of the EOBR's though. Privacy issue. I'm on paperlogs now and my paperlogs are always legal. Its a hassle though. Lots of writing. But if you sit at a shipper for 5 or 6 hours that eats up your time.
-
PPrivacy issue? How? They arent talking about recording sound or video in your truck. They are talking about elogs that are connected to your trucks ecm. Your trucks ECM is already recording what you do and is admissable in court. Its the first thing lawyers ask for after an accident. It records speed, rpms, gear, how you brake etc. So Im not sure what privacy issue you are talking about.

I generally take the "violation" in that situation because it rarely happens.

I do not have a problem with the EOBR- true, I know nothing else because I am newer- but, I will say that I am very very happy that my recordkeeping is so darn easy....
If you are focused, plan your day accordingly, and don't load at a few of the places where I load at, you should have no problems with the EOBR's. (LOL- I had to slip in the remark about where I load! HAHA!!) -
In reality its the EOBR's that will help rid us of the waits because companies are starting to charge heavily for detention. Maverick no longer waves detention for anyone. I just racked up two hours at Moncure last night that will add over $100 to what this load pays me (reminder Im IC).
