I just love a story with a happy ending.
I hate to hear that about the Dixie. Always been one of my favorite stops for over 30 years. I hated to see the one in Tuscola closed years ago. When I think back on all the truck stops that I used to stop that there are very few left. I don't care for all those corporate cookie-cutter places.lonelyswmtrucker, JimTheHut and Flatbedder 1966 Thank this. -
i liked the Dixie too, that's a shame. same goes with Whites on 81 in VA, it's a petro now, and it sucks.

Me too I like stopping at whites. I like looking at the old bikes he had their. I haven't been there since he sold the place but I can guess he took all his stuff with him and I don't blame him.

seems like i've read somewhere that the Lee Hi was sold out too, I believe it was the same family that owned Whites.
I always liked Lee Hi because you could find parking there no matter how late you hit it. -
I always wound up hitting the spots no one else had the balls/skill/whatever to attempt, simply because that's all that was left when I got there.....and I was too #### tired to continue to Lexington if heading south.JimTheHut Thanks this.

Somewhat of a lazy day today. Only had to drive 8.5 hours, so taking it easy. Stopped at a rest stop in MI to kill some time so I wouldn't be sitting at the consignees all afternoon. I was doing my customary once around when I noticed an inside trailer tire was flat. I had only driven 100 miles since getting fuel and doing my checks. Sent in macro and three hours later the tire guy shows up. He gives me the old tire and I was queries as to what had happened to it because it had a lot of tread on it. I noticed a hole in the sidewall, from inside you couldnt see the cords separating. So I throw it up on the trailer and take another look, I'm thinking its a Goodyear, but no its a "Goodride" made in China. What the heck, so I look the other tires and find a Linglong and a Samson both made in china. Is this the norm these days? What happened to the good ol' days when tires were made in Mexico?
sewerman Thanks this. -
