Christmas and Thanksgiving are the only guaranteed holidays but they do very well getting you home other holidays. In over 9yrs Ive rarely missed any holiday unless I requested to be run. I can only think of one Easter that Ive missed and one 4th of July. The key to getting home weekends is starting your monday off delivering as early as you can then utilizing all your hours thru the week. That will usually help you be setup to load for home friday morning (usually but not always).
-
Hmm that's not bad at all!
-
ABSOLUTELY. I can't agree more. I have found that if you make your delivery on Monday morning with as fresh of a clock (as close to all your 14/11 hrs) as you can, and then bust your butt to stay on top of your clock (meaning NOT STOPPING and screwing around at the T/S) most of the time, you will find yourself at home on Friday evening. Keep the doors SHUT and the wheels TURNIN', and you will get home like planned. (With just an occasional exception).
Seriously, devote yourself to making the run(s) within your 14 hr clock each and every day, and it will work out.Liedl13 Thanks this. -

Got to consignee in Baltimore, MD at 0300, shut down for sleep. Got woke up @ 0630, said untarp and chain. Unloaded @ 0800(appt. wasn't until 1100) Parked on side street to finish 10 hr. Now it's 1600 and we are still sitting on the side street waiting for a W/A.
